Q & A about Aliyah
Here are some F.A.Q.s (and facts!) about making Aliyah. See you on the other side!
q: Does the Israeli government really pay my college tuition?
a: New olim studying at a recognized institution will have their college tuition paid for them by the Israeli government. However, studies must start within three years of aliyah or within the proper time (BA- until age 27, MA- until age 30). See this link for more details: http://www1.biu.ac.il/indexE.php
q: Do I have to serve in the IDF?
a: Women are exempt from service after the age of 20. Service for men depends on a variety of factors. Single guys who make aliyah at the age of 22 are required to serve 6 months, unless they are married with children.
