Lag Ba'Omer Weekend in Berlin.

This weekend was organized with cooperation of Yavneh Olami with the Hagshama Department, EUJS and WUJS .

During this weekend we had sessions with speakers from Israel; we learned Jewish and modern texts, discussed topics that are relevant to Jewish European students today and talked about nationality, nationalism, continuity and connection in a time of multi cultural societies.
This experience was in Berlin, a cosmopolitan city. A city which stood as a unique Jewish centre for hundreds of years, which varied between the Enlightenment movement and the traditional world, between destruction and hope and which continues to do so today.

The weekend included:

Meeting other young Jewish students from all over Europe
Seminar sessions
Bonfire and sing-a-long- Lag BaOmer!
Tour in Berlin
Saturday night "Israeli Idol" concert with Singers from KOCHAV NOLAD and party.

Bar Ilan Shabbaton, February 13-14, 2009:

On Shabbat, Parshat Yitro, 50 students from America, England, Belgium, and France traveled to Bar Ilan University for a fun and informative Shabbat. The goal of the shabbaton was to give students who are studying in Israel for a year the chance to see Bar Ilan as an academic option. The shabbaton included Friday night dinner, shiurim, tour of the Bar Ilan campus, a student panel, and an opportunity to meet student olim who learn at Bar Ilan. On Shabbat day the students had the opportunity to eat lunch with various Bar Ilan Students and were able to ask them questions about Bar Ilan. In the afternoon they were able to find out about student gariniim and sherut leumi/army options. After Shabbat, there was an academic fair about the different majors offered at Bar Ilan. Present were students currently studying these majors. It was a great opportunity to find out more about each major.

We would like to thank Nefesh B’Nefesh for sponsoring this wonderful Shabbat, as well as all the people at Bar Ilan who made the Shabbat such a success.
